Most students do not last more than a few months to a year because it is a labor-intensive effort that must be done under the guidance of a qualified instructor. If you think this is like learning a few chords on a guitar to play campfire songs, learning the bagpipes is not for you! Having said that, it is an incredibly rewarding lifelong experience for those who are truly committed. If you are prepared to put in years of hard work, and commit to purchasing and maintaining a high quality instrument, then by all means - pursue this wonderful skill!
